Because matrimonial information can be highly personal, GMB applies additional care to information relating to family circumstances, photographs, relationships, professional background and other information voluntarily provided for matchmaking purposes.
This Policy should be read together with the GMB Website Terms of Use and, where applicable, the GMB Membership & Service Terms and Conditions.

For purposes of applicable data-protection law, GMB may act as a Data Fiduciary in respect of personal data for which GMB determines the purpose and means of processing. The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 defines a Data Fiduciary in this manner and regulates processing of digital personal data for lawful purposes.

E. Communication information
Information contained in emails, WhatsApp messages, telephone communications, enquiries, forms, meeting records, feedback, complaints, testimonials and other communications with GMB.
F. Payment and transaction information
Where a payment or transaction is made through or in connection with GMB, relevant transaction, billing and payment information may be processed. Payment-card or banking information may be handled directly by applicable payment providers where relevant.
G. Technical and usage information
When you use our Websites, certain technical information may be generated or received, such as IP address, browser or device information, approximate usage information, pages visited, timestamps, referring pages, security information and similar technical data.
H. Information voluntarily provided about another person
A parent, relative, guardian, family representative or other authorised person may provide information about another individual for matrimonial or enquiry purposes.
Where you provide information concerning another person, you should do so only where you have the authority or lawful basis to provide that information and, where appropriate, have informed that person.
3. Information We Receive from Other Sources
GMB may receive information from:
- the individual concerned;
- parents, relatives or family representatives;
- existing GMB clients or referrals;
- persons introducing a prospective client to GMB;
- documents or references voluntarily provided by a client;
- publicly available information, where appropriate;
- service providers supporting GMB's operations; and
- communications or interactions relating to an existing GMB relationship.
Where GMB receives information from a third party for matchmaking purposes, GMB may contact the relevant individual or family to confirm, clarify or update information as appropriate.
4. Why We Use Personal Information
Providing requested services
To respond to enquiries, understand matrimonial requirements, create or review biodata, provide matchmaking services, identify potentially suitable profiles, facilitate introductions, arrange meetings and provide related assistance.
Matchmaking and profile evaluation
To review information supplied by a client, compare it with relevant requirements, identify potential introductions and communicate relevant information to prospective families or individuals where appropriate and authorised.
Verification and quality control
To undertake the level of verification, validation, reference checking and information review that GMB reasonably considers appropriate for its matchmaking services.
GMB's verification process does not by itself constitute a governmental investigation, title investigation, financial audit, medical examination, forensic investigation, criminal investigation or certification that every fact supplied by a member is completely true or exhaustive.
Client communication
To respond to questions, appointments, requests, meetings, follow-ups, service communications and other communications connected with a GMB relationship.
Safety, fraud and integrity
To identify or investigate suspected fraud, impersonation, material misrepresentation, abuse, harassment, threats, misuse of confidential information, attempts to harm GMB staff or property, or other conduct that may create safety, security or legitimate business concerns.
Administration and business operations
To maintain records, invoices, payment records, internal systems, customer-service records, operational records and other business documentation.
Website and technical operations
To operate, secure, maintain and improve the Websites and their functionality.
Legal compliance
To comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders, lawful governmental directions, regulatory requirements or other legal obligations.
Internal research, quality improvement and training
GMB may retain certain records for internal research, service improvement, process development and staff training, subject to applicable law, confidentiality requirements and access controls.
Where reasonably practicable, GMB will prefer aggregated, anonymised or de-identified information for research and training rather than identifiable matrimonial information.
Marketing and promotional activities
Where appropriate consent or another lawful basis exists, GMB may use authorised information for promotional activities, including client stories, testimonials, photographs, videos, wedding or engagement material, business associations and other approved marketing content.
5. Our Legal Basis for Processing
Depending on the circumstances and the applicable law, GMB may process personal data:
- with your consent;
- to provide a service you have requested or administer an existing relationship;
- for certain legitimate or otherwise permitted uses under applicable law;
- to comply with legal obligations;
- to protect the rights, safety, security or legitimate interests of GMB, its personnel, members or other persons; or
- for other purposes permitted by applicable law.
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, personal-data processing is generally tied to a lawful purpose based on consent or specified legitimate uses. The Act also requires notice describing the personal data and purposes of processing and provides rights regarding withdrawal of consent, correction and erasure, subject to applicable conditions.
The Government has notified a phased commencement of the DPDP Act, with the principal processing obligations in Sections 3–17 scheduled to commence 18 months after 13 November 2025.
Accordingly, this Policy is designed to operate with the current legal framework and to provide a framework capable of being updated as the remaining DPDP provisions become applicable.
6. How We Share Matrimonial Information
GMB does not sell personal data.
However, matchmaking necessarily involves controlled disclosure of certain information.
Where you engage GMB for matchmaking services, GMB may share appropriate portions of your matrimonial information with another prospective individual or family where GMB considers the introduction relevant to the stated requirements and where such disclosure is permitted under the applicable service arrangement and privacy framework.
The information shared will depend on the circumstances and may include relevant biodata, photographs, family background, professional information or other matchmaking information.
GMB does not represent that every item in a matrimonial profile has been independently verified to the level of a forensic, governmental, financial, medical, title or departmental investigation.
The person or family receiving information remains responsible for conducting their own independent enquiries and due diligence before making important personal decisions.
7. Service Providers and Operational Partners
GMB may use third-party service providers to support legitimate business operations, such as:
- website hosting and infrastructure;
- cloud storage;
- email;
- communications and messaging;
- payment processing;
- website security;
- analytics and technical services;
- customer or business-management systems;
- IT support;
- professional advisers; and
- other operational services.
Such providers may process information on GMB's behalf or as otherwise permitted by law.
GMB will seek to limit disclosure to information reasonably required for the relevant purpose and will take appropriate contractual, organisational or technical measures as appropriate to the nature of the processing.
Where applicable, personal data may be processed outside India by service providers. Any such processing or transfer will be subject to applicable law and any restrictions or requirements imposed by the competent authorities.
8. Photographs, Videos, Testimonials and Marketing Material
GMB may collect photographs, videos and testimonials voluntarily provided by clients or created with their knowledge and permission.
A person's use of GMB's services does not by itself constitute blanket permission for GMB to use that person's image, name, company name, trademark, testimonial or wedding/event material for advertising.
Where GMB intends to use identifiable client material for promotional purposes, GMB may obtain a separate marketing, media or testimonial consent/authorisation.
Such authorisation may cover:
- name;
- photograph;
- video;
- testimonial;
- wedding, roka or engagement photographs/videos;
- family or event imagery;
- profession;
- company or business name;
- authorised company logo or trademark; and
- approved client-story or success-story information.
The authorised material may be used on GMB's Websites, social-media channels, advertising, brochures, presentations, public-relations material and other GMB promotional communications within the scope of the permission granted.
Where reasonably appropriate, GMB may edit or format approved material for length, grammar, layout, captions or presentation without materially changing the substance of a testimonial.
9. Public Events and Event Photographs
GMB may attend or participate in weddings, roka ceremonies, engagements, receptions and other matrimonial events.
The fact that an event occurs publicly or is attended by numerous persons does not by itself constitute unlimited commercial permission for GMB to use every photograph or video of every person present.
GMB may use event material where it has obtained the necessary permission, licence, consent or other lawful basis for that particular use.
Where clients voluntarily provide photographs or videos to GMB for marketing or celebration purposes, GMB may use them only within the scope of the permission or authorisation applicable to that material.
10. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Websites may use cookies and similar technologies to:
- maintain website functionality;
- remember preferences;
- understand website usage;
- improve performance;
- protect against fraud or misuse; and
- support analytics or other legitimate website functions.
The specific technologies used may change from time to time depending on the Websites, hosting environment, analytics configuration and other technical services in use.
Where required by applicable law, GMB will provide appropriate notice and obtain or manage consent for non-essential technologies.
11. Data Security
GMB recognises the confidential nature of matrimonial information and seeks to maintain reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information and the risks involved.
Such measures may include controlled access, authentication, restricted internal access, secure storage, backups, operational procedures and other safeguards appropriate to GMB's systems.
No electronic system, communication channel or method of storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Under the DPDP Act, a Data Fiduciary is required to take reasonable security safeguards and to address personal-data breaches in the manner prescribed by law.
Where GMB becomes aware of a personal-data breach, it will take reasonable steps to contain, assess and address the incident and make notifications required by applicable law.
12. Confidentiality
GMB treats client information as confidential and limits access to personnel and service providers who reasonably require the information for legitimate business purposes.
GMB will not voluntarily sell personal data to advertisers, data brokers or unrelated third parties.
Confidentiality does not prevent GMB from:
- sharing information as necessary to provide requested matchmaking services;
- using information with authorised employees or service providers for legitimate business purposes;
- using information where the individual has provided appropriate permission;
- disclosing information where required or permitted by law;
- responding to a valid court order, regulatory requirement or lawful governmental direction; or
- taking reasonable steps to protect the safety, security, rights or legitimate interests of GMB, its personnel, clients or other persons.
13. Retention of Personal Information
GMB retains information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or for other lawful purposes, including:
- providing or administering services;
- maintaining business and financial records;
- handling complaints or disputes;
- preventing fraud or misuse;
- complying with legal obligations;
- protecting GMB's legal rights; and
- legitimate internal archival, research, quality-improvement or training purposes.
When personal information is no longer required for a particular purpose and there is no applicable legal or legitimate reason to retain it, GMB may securely delete, anonymise, de-identify or otherwise dispose of it.
GMB may maintain an internal confidential archive after a client relationship ends where retention is reasonably required for legitimate business, legal, historical, research, quality or training purposes, subject to applicable law and appropriate access restrictions.
Where feasible, GMB will use anonymised or de-identified information for research and training rather than identifiable matrimonial information.
Under the DPDP Act, personal data is generally to be erased when consent is withdrawn or when it is reasonable to assume that the specified purpose is no longer being served, unless retention is necessary under law.
The detailed retention framework may be set out in GMB's internal Data Retention & Deletion Policy.
14. Your Rights and Choices
Subject to applicable law and the circumstances of processing, you may contact GMB to:
- request access to information concerning your personal data and its processing;
- request correction, completion or updating of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion or erasure where legally available;
- withdraw consent where consent is the basis of processing;
- request assistance concerning privacy-related questions or grievances; and
- exercise other rights available under applicable data-protection law.
Where processing is based on consent, withdrawal of consent does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful, and withdrawal may affect GMB's ability to continue providing some services. The DPDP Act expressly recognises withdrawal of consent and requires withdrawal to be as easy as giving consent, subject to the applicable legal framework.
Certain records may need to be retained despite a deletion request where retention is required or permitted by applicable law or is reasonably necessary for legitimate legal or business purposes.
15. Marketing Communications
GMB may use telephone, WhatsApp, email, SMS or other communication channels to communicate with you about:
- your enquiry;
- appointments;
- meetings;
- membership administration;
- requested services;
- service updates;
- account or payment matters; and
- other communications reasonably connected with your existing relationship with GMB.
Promotional communications will be handled in accordance with applicable consent, preference and communications laws.
You may request that promotional communications be stopped or your marketing preference be changed.
Stopping promotional communications will not necessarily stop essential service-related communications.
TRAI's Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference framework continues to regulate commercial communications, and TRAI notified a Third Amendment on 18 September 2026.
16. Information Concerning Children
GMB's matrimonial services are intended for adults who are legally eligible to participate in the relevant service.
GMB does not knowingly seek to provide matrimonial services to persons under the age of 18 or intentionally target children through the Websites.
Where information relating to an individual under 18 is submitted inadvertently, GMB may take reasonable steps to restrict, remove or otherwise handle that information in accordance with applicable law.
The DPDP Act defines a child as an individual who has not completed 18 years and contains specific requirements concerning processing of children's personal data.
17. Accuracy of Information
GMB relies substantially on information provided by individuals and families for matchmaking purposes.
You are expected to provide information that is accurate, current and not materially misleading.
You should promptly inform GMB if material information previously supplied changes.
GMB may request clarification, supporting information or updated documentation where it considers this reasonably appropriate.
GMB's validation process is intended for matchmaking purposes and does not constitute a guarantee of the absolute truth, completeness or legal validity of information provided by a member or family.
18. Links to Third-Party Websites and Platforms
The Websites may contain links to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, payment services, Google services or other external websites and platforms.
Those services are operated independently by third parties and may have their own privacy policies and terms.
GMB is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, content or policies of third-party platforms.
You should review the applicable privacy notices of third-party services when using them.
19. Complaints and Privacy Grievances
We encourage you to contact GMB first so that we can review and attempt to resolve any privacy concern.

- changes in our services;
- changes in our technology or operational practices;
- changes in the way personal information is processed;
